There is no minimum age but all surfers must be able to swim 25m confidently and unaided.
They say that one of the hardest jobs in the world is being a parent. And sometimes it is all too easy to get caught up in life and lose the opportunity to spend some quality time with your children. For those with more than one child or parents with limited access it can mean that the time for one to one can be rare.
We have developed a Parent & Child Surf trip to help to redress this balance. The concept is to come down to Cornwall, away from the usual environment and together do something fun, exciting and positive. Surfing is the ideal informal activity to create strong bonds between individuals. At a higher level it can take you on a personal journey to places both mental and physical which you have never visited before.
Our unique Parent & Child Surf Trip programme includes surfing tuition, water safety and beach games including a few beach based problem solving activities. The emphasis is on fun and support rather than achievement and winning. In the evenings you can walk a short distance to some fabulous, child friendly restaurants.
A trip to Cornwall is ideal for surfers of all abilities, including first-timers. It is perfect for those wishing to enjoy great waves and expert guiding in the hands of the Global Boarders team where you'll be guided to and from the best beaches and coached by a Global Boarders fully qualified British Surfing Association instructor who guarantees to have beginners up and riding by the end of their stay and progressors pushing the boundaries of their surfing capabilities. There is also a chance for some video analysis and surf theory workshops including wave prediction/wave data reading for all. All of our staff have been screened and cleared by The Criminal Records Bureau.
Our accommodation is nestled 5 minutes above the picture postcard fishing harbour of Mousehole, which has retained its quaint nature whilst providing an excellent clean, safe harbour area where children just love to explore and spend hours playing in the crystal clear water. The accommodation, which has stunning sea views, is a contemporary barn conversion and both spacious and stylishly furnished. We are in the continual process of making the property as environmentally friendly as possible but with all of the up-to-date modern conveniences [no compost loos!]. The property has been tailored specifically to the requirements of surfers including a board storage area, a rinsing area and a dry room for suits. There is also a work bench and ding (repair) kits available.

We will greet you at either Newquay Airport or Penzance Railway or Bus stations and transfer you to your accommodation - a contemporary barn conversion in a secluded hamlet just 5 minutes walk from the picture-postcard village of Mousehole. There are a number of fabulous restaurants, pubs and a quaint harbour - all within walking distance of the accommodation.
Begin with a leisurely, self-service breakfast where you can feast on toast, croissants and organic muesli with lashings of freshly squeezed juice and Fairtrade tea and coffee.
At apx. 10am you will be picked up and taken to the beach by your dedicated Global Boarders surf instructor who will have already checked which beach has the best conditions. Onboard he or she will have your boards and suits (although guests are more than welcome to bring their own suits should they wish). At the beach we will provide safe storage for your property, and then you'll then receive two hours coaching before a quick break followed by 1 hours instruction. We'll all then get changed and enjoy lunch at a nearby cafe. Travelling and from the beaches takes you through the varied landscapes of Cornwall from the rugged, rural beauty of Zennor to the dramatic cliff drops around Sennen and Lands End.
Many of the beaches have their own excellent cafes and bars for more essential sugar breaks! We'll relax and enjoy lunch whilst contemplating our progress.
You can walk to a number of specially recommended, child friendly restaurants where we guarantee the menus and locations are the best which West Cornwall has to offer.
After breakfast on the day of your departure we'll transfer you to back to the point of arrival. All guests will receive a Global Boarders / BSA diploma subject to criteria being met.
