Global Boarders Instruction

You'll be greeted in the morning by our instructor and taken to best possible location to follow our basic course of surf tuition:

Beginners

Safety instructions including whistle blows and hand signals allowing at all times for you as Global Boarders guests to have fun in the safest environment possible.

An in depth explanation of the equipment that we will be using (although guests are welcome to bring their own) and which boards and wetsuits Global Boarders consider to be the best for each individual.
Basic handling of the board.
Paddling out to the right depth, turning the board and catching waves.
Learning to "duck dive".

From standing we will aim to get you:

Making 'angled take offs' allowing you to progress along the wave instead of straight in.
Gaining a better understanding of how the board is working under your feet, i.e. the transfer of balance to speed up or slow down and utilising this to help you turn.
Depending on personal ability we can then move on to riding 'green waves' (now we are really surfing!) - the art of riding unbroken waves.
For the total natural at this stage we can start to turn on the face of the wave.

Intermediates

Our intermediate programme is designed to ensure that intermediate surfers optimize their technique, develop their style, and challenge their performance.

At the beginning of the trip we'll assess your particular development needs and then work with you to achieve them. The goal of our intermediate surfing lessons is to refine your technique, maximize your confidence, and get you working on new skills and manoeuvres. Intermediate surfers who would like to perform more radical manoeuvres will be encouraged to surf more confidently and aggressively by taking full advantage of the wave face. You will be taught to better control your board by performing drop-offs, precise bottom turns, and by working your boards through slow sections into fast pockets.

Your surf knowledge will be enhanced through informal workshops on such topics as wave patterns, rips (currents), tides, potentially dangerous situations, priority rules and surf report reading. Video analysis is also an important component of our surfing lessons and will be available in the evenings to help you solidify the skills you have learned during the day.

Advanced

For advanced surfers we develop individual training plans aimed at developing your technique through specific exercises, individual instruction, video analysis and refined surf report reading. Special coaches with many years of competition experience will assist you with tips and advice.

As with any of the tuition given by our instructors, it will be entirely guest led, allowing for a comfortable and productive surfing session. We will always follow the most useful and progressive surf tuition package allowing for you to achieve a basic level of surfing which you can then progress in your own time or visit us again.
